Bettendorf names recycling truck after Reid Gleeson, QC boy known for his love of garbage trucks who passed away from cancer
BETTENDORF, Iowa — The City of Bettendorf is asking the community to help name two recycling trucks. According to a press release, the City received 4,446 name submissions to its Recycling Truck Naming Contest between March 18 and April 18. Of those submissions, 94% were in honor and memory of a local boy named Reid, who loved garbage and recycling trucks. He passed away from cancer in 2020 and one of the trucks has been named in his honor.

2 Burlington women sentenced to prison for sex trafficking charges
BURLINGTON, Iowa — Miesha Lasha Stanley, 32, and Rosella Marie Taylor, 36, both of Burlington, have been sentenced to federal prison for sex trafficking charges. Stanley was sentenced to thirty years in federal prison for using force, fraud, and coercion to compel victims to engage in sex acts with customers in exchange for money. According to court records, Stanley took all the money the victims earned.

Davenport City Council approves pay agreement with interim city administrator
DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport City Council has approved a pay agreement with Interim City Administrator Mallory Merritt. On Wednesday, April 24, city council voted to ratify a contract with Merritt, who was appointed to the interim position earlier in April. Under the agreement, Merritt will be paid a base salary of $174,420 as well as a salary differential equivalent to the full-time city administrator's base pay, which is $6,273 each month. She will also receive a retroactive pay differential of money owed since November 2023, totaling approximately $37,500. That's a change from an earlier proposal that would've given her $50,000.
