Bastrop Honor Choir presents free, annual spring concert on May 19

YISD approves Head Start contract, awards presented at May meeting
In the agenda, the Yoakum Independent School District approved a contract through INK Education Services for the school’s Head Start Program at the May 13 meeting. “This is for our Head Start Program at the Primary Annex,” Superintendent Tom Kelley said. “INK Services is funding five teachers and two floater aides. The funds we will get from this contract is $286,000.”
Sacred Heart Church Spring picnic is Sunday, May 26
The annual Sacred Heart Parish Spring picnic will take place Sunday, May 26 with all activities at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville. The traditional meal consisting of country fried chicken, stew, homemade cornbread dressing with all the trimmings will be served in the hall from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner plates are $13.00.

LISD approves employee compensation plan with raises
The Lockhart Independent School District Board of Trustees, deeply committed to the well-being and financial stability of staff, recognized the need for higher pay and continued monthly health insurance savings while maintaining exceptional coverage, unanimously passed the 2024-2025 employee compensation and staffing plans at Monday’s school board meeting. The compensation package is another step towards the district’s goal of creating a pathway to $100,000 by 2028. Lockhart ISD currently has four teachers earning $100,000 and many more teachers projected to accomplish that milestone in the coming years.
