The Moulton softball team pulled away from D’Hanis in the bi-district round Thursday at Marion with a nine-run fourth inning for a 14-3 win. After a scoreless first inning, Moulton scored five runs in the bottom of the second frame; D’Hanis got within 5-2 in the top of the third and then get within 5-3 in the fifth box.
Shiner baseball: Shiner 2004 baseball 1A state championship team recognized
The 2004 Shiner Comanches Class 1A baseball state championship team were recognized prior to Friday’s home game with Flatonia. The team had an overall record of 23-9 and went 9-1 in 29-1A to claim the district championship. The Comanches posted an 8-1 record in the playoffs. They defeated Maud 8-7 in the state semifinals and played Follett in the 1A championship game. Shiner claimed the crown with an 11-0 victory.
