Texas Rangers investigating death of inmate at the DeWitt County jail
DEWITT COUNTY, Texas - On Sunday April 14 at 4:25 a.m. an inmate at the DeWitt County Jail was found unresponsive and pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Pct. 1. The inmate is identified as Milton Wilson Kaiser III, 34 of Yoakum. Authorities arrested Kaiser on April 12 at 8:50 p.m. accused of family violence causing bodily injury.

Death investigation in Cuero
CUERO, Texas - Police in Cuero are investigating the death of Martin Luther Herron, 52, as an accident. Someone found Herron Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. lying face down in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of Milligan St. It appeared he had fallen and hit his head, police said. The Travis County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy. Herron was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Herron was known to have stayed at the home, police said. Authorities described the property as a small junk yard and a hang out area. The person who found him showed up at the property looking for a car part when he found Herron and called 911. Police believe Herron fell shortly before that person arrived.
YHS Lady Bulldogs win softball game 8-1
After a handful of hits and one run over the first four innings, the Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldogs were sparked by a big hit by Olivia Fojt. With a 1-1 game in the bottom of the fifth, Fojt picked up an in-the-park home run and that started a snowball effect as the Lady Bulldogs had five straight hits afterwards, scoring a total of five runs and then got three hits to score two runs in the next inning for an 8-1 win on April 9 against Industrial at home.
