    Firefighters battle fire in Visalia residential area

    VISALIA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Visalia Fire Department is asking residents to avoid a residential area in the city as they battle a fire Wednesday evening.

    Firefighters say around 7:30 p.m. they responded to the 1700 block of West Whitendale Avenue for a reported structure fire.

    Photos provided by the department below reveal a residential area with smoke coming from it. It is unknown how many of the surrounding homes are at risk, if any.

    Crews are actively battling the fire and ask the public to avoid the area.

    Firefighters advise Whitendale Avenue between Giddings Street and Dayton Street is shut down.

    The cause of the fire is actively under investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
