VIENNA — A candidate for Vienna City Recorder is asking a court to throw out the Certificate of Announcement of an opponent. Alice Goodwin filed a Writ of Mandamus in Wood County Circuit Court to void and nullify the Certificate of Announcement of her opponent, Rodney Smith due to Smith’s wife, Teresa, being the notary who notarized the paperwork.
Parkersburg City Council’s Personnel Committee to discuss holiday pay, salary ranges
PARKERSBURG — Members of Parkersburg City Council’s Personnel Committee will consider revisions to police and firefighter holiday pay and employee salary ranges Monday. The Personnel Committee will convene at 6 p.m. Monday in the executive conference room on the second floor of the Municipal Building, with three ordinances on its agenda.

Organization of Clean Energy and Climate receives Marietta Community Foundation grant
MARIETTA — The Organization of Clean Energy and Climate in Washington County has received a grant of $7,582 from the Marietta Community Foundation. The funds will be used to support development of curricular materials to create hands-on, on-site learning on the topic of an advanced computing center ecosystem. By leveraging the 5,000 square foot greenhouse and SAI.TECH’s data center south of Marietta on Gravel Bank Road off Ohio 7, high school students in the area will learn about computing data center systems, why they generate so much heat and how this recycled heat can be used for a variety of applications.

Downtown PKB: Point Park Concerts ready to rock Ohio River again
The popular Point Park Concerts will be returning soon to downtown Parkersburg. We have an exciting lineup planned for the second Friday of June, July, and August. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. and will be held at Point Park. All concerts are free, and open to the public. We welcome the community to bring chairs and sit along the river under the stars and enjoy music from a wonderful line-up of tribute bands. In addition to live music there will be food and drink vendors on site, or plan to come a little early and grab a bite to eat at one of the downtown restaurants.
