Victoria Community Action Committee discontinues food deliveries due to rising costs

VICTORIA, Texas - D ue to increasing costs, the Victoria C ommunity A ction C ommittee is forced to stop its daily food deliveries. M ark B ethune, CEO of the Victoria C ommunity A ction C ommittee , is working with M eals on W heels Victoria so that non-profit can take over their meal deliveries.

“Through COVID accommodations, a lot of funds came through so that wasn't a necessity, but once those accommodations started to dry up, then it became evident that the program under its current structure is not affordable, ” said Bethune.

M ost of the Victoria C ommunity A ction C ommittee's food clientele will not miss a meal delivery. T he C ommunity Action Committee will continue to deliver meals for the next 60 days . After that M eals on W heels will take over. T he number of meals that M eals on W heels delivers will jump from 200 to nearly 40 0 households .
