Community celebration set for Friday to welcome US Capitol Christmas Tree to Idaho Falls

The free public event, “From the Forest to the Falls: The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Stops in Idaho Falls,” will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Idaho Falls Public Library parking lot and along Capital Avenue. The City of Idaho Falls, Idaho Falls Power and the Idaho Falls Public Library are hosting the event. Partners include the U.S. Forest Service, including the local Caribou-Targhee National Forest, and the Society of American Foresters, the nonprofit partner for the tour. Visitors can see the 76-foot Engelmann spruce in person, enjoy live music, winter crafts and stories, make handmade ornaments for the tree’s journey to Washington and explore educational booths about Idaho’s national forests and the people who care for them.
