Despite sunshine expected today, we will notice stronger winds in the area and isolated thunderstorms at times before quieter weather moves in by Thursday. Today will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy at times with isolated showers and thunderstorms and a wind advisory in effect. With the sunshine, we are looking at highs rising into the upper-70s by the afternoon hours with winds increasing up to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph or greater possible. We will see a slight increase in clouds through the afternoon hours with isolated showers and a few isolated thunderstorms possible. We may see spotty showers and thunderstorms in portions of the area from around 12 pm today until around 7 pm this evening. As of right now, we are not looking at anything strong to severe. With the strong winds mixed in, a wind advisory will be in effect from 2 pm this afternoon until 7 pm this evening. After 7 pm, winds are expected to die down, but remain breezy overnight, reaching up to 20 mph, gusts up to 30 mph at times while temperatures dip into the mid-50s by Thursday morning.

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Mankato East Cougars softball team took the field against the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders in the Class AAA State Championship game. This games was scoreless through 4 innings, until Cretin-Derham Hall put a run on the board in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Cougars weren’t going down without a fight.
