Area athletes rack up conference titles at Gopher Conference meet
The Gopher Conference hosted its 2024 conference meet at Maple River High School over the weekend. New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva led area teams, with the girls team finishing as the runners-up with 99 points, and the boys finishing third with 71 points. Blooming Prairie earned a fourth-place finish from its boys team with 70 points. and a ninth-place finish from the girls team with 58 points. Notebook: Coaches ask to move softball finals to U of M
The Minnesota State High School League last year went along with a request from softball coaches to extend the state tournament to three days. The first edition of the expanded tournament will be next month at Caswell Park in North Mankato. A new request might require a little more persuasion.
