Elderly man dies in two vehicle crash
COTTONWOOD COUNTY, Minn. (KEYC) - A truck and SUV collided in Amboy Township resulting in one fatality around 10 a.m. Monday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Jerry Lee Evers of Comfrey, 81, was westbound on Highway 30 when his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into a southbound 2022 Nissan Rogue driven by Scott Bruce Burdorf of Mintevideo, 54, on Highway 71.

Mankato Police Department Celebrates 22% Female Workforce, Exceeding National Average
In a stride toward gender diversity in law enforcement, the Mankato Department of Public Safety is boasting a higher-than-usual percentage of women on their force. As reported by the department on Facebook, a proud 22% of their staff are female, surpassing the national average which lingers at a meager 13%. The announcement came in conjunction with the Minnesota Association of Women Police Conference, a recent gathering that saw several of Mankato’s female officers in attendance.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - National Police Week started this week on Sunday, May 12 and will go until Saturday, May 18. In 1962, former U.S. President John F. Kennedy signed a public law designating May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and stating that the week that day fell in would be National Police Week.
