San Angelo Women Indicted for Stabbing Man with a Prison Shank
SAN ANGELO — Two women from San Angelo face charges after allegedly attacking a man with a knife last December, according to court documents. Shevetra Mathis, 25, and Ebony Gasca, 26, were indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon stemming from the incident. The altercation unfolded on December 26, 2023, in the 300 block of West 13th Street, leading to the death of Jermaine Johnson, who succumbed to two stab wounds at Shannon Medical Center. A San Angelo man who launched a fundraiser after his car was totaled by a tornado in Robert Lee has received thousands of dollars in financial support thanks to help from the Concho Valley community.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Lake View High School Chiefs have a new baseball coach. The San Angelo Independent School District announced Tony Cortez, an 18-year coaching veteran, has taken the helm of the baseball team. He was most recently the Chiefs' football offensive coordinator and assistant powerlifting coach.
Triple-digit heat expected next week; Tips for protecting potted plants
Allison Schwarz, an extension agent for horticulture, advises, "When it’s cooler like it has been, you can get by with watering maybe once or twice a week. But as it gets hot, you have to remember that potted plants have a smaller root system. They are restricted to the pot, which is exposed to sun and wind, so potted plants need to be watered more frequently than those in the ground."

Thursday, the storm chance is up to 60% with a potential for some storms on Thursday to turn severe and producing damaging wind and large hail. Highs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday around 90 each day but Saturday through Monday will see temperatures climb to 100 to 102!
