Work Crews to Install Signal Arms at US 87 and 29th Street Intersection on Thursday
SAN ANGELO, TX — Work crews will be installing signal arms for traffic lights at the intersection of US Highway 87 and 29th Street on Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Work will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday and is expected to finish about 1 a.m. Friday. Drivers should expect minor delays on northbound US Highway 87, as well as eastbound and westbound 29th Street. Drivers Advised to Avoid Intersection of Knickerbocker and Southland After Spill
SAN ANGELO, TX — Drivers were advised to avoid the intersection of Knickerbocker Road and Southland Boulevard due to a spill at about 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. A Nixle alert from the San Angelo Police Department stated that a spill was causing low traction on the road. The area most significantly affected was at the intersection and a block west of the intersection on Southland. It is unclear what caused the spill. Four Dogs Face Euthanasia at San Angelo Shelter
SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Animal Shelter is nearing its capacity with 175 dogs currently housed on-site as of Tuesday, September 17. Without immediate adoption, fostering, or transfer to another rescue, four dogs are scheduled to be euthanized by 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. Local animal rescue organization Concho Valley PAWS is urging the public to step in and save the dogs at risk. The shelter is required to maintain a population below 180 dogs at all times. AUSTIN, TX — Highly touted quarterback Arch Manning will make his first career start Saturday for the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin against Louisiana-Monroe. Longhorns head football coach Steve Sarkisian made the announcement to the media Thursday. Starting QB Quinn Ewers injured his oblique in the Longhorns’ win last week, and Sarkisian said he wanted to give Ewers an extra week of rest before their SEC opener Sept. 28 at home against Mississippi State. Angelo State Volleyball Makes Debut in Top 25 National Rankings
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University volleyball team made its first appearance this year in the NCAA Division II national rankings, jumping up to No. 21 this week. The Rambelles are 8-1 overall and on a seven-match winning streak heading into a pair of Top 25 matchups this week. DPS Trooper Critically Injured in Crash; Support Efforts Underway
NOTREES, TX – A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper remains in critical condition following a vehicle accident in Ector County. Trooper Kevin Ramirez Vasquez, a U.S. Army veteran and recent graduate of DPS class A-23, was working a crash scene when a vehicle struck an Ector County Sheriff’s vehicle, critically injuring him. CBP Officers Apprehend 'Not So Trusted Traveler' With Cocaine
SAN LUIS, AZ – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Area Port of San Luis seized 67.64 pounds of cocaine from a "trusted traveler" on Sunday. It happened on September 15, at around 4:45 a.m., when CBP officers encountered a 59-year-old female driving a Toyota SUV.

SAN ANGELO, TX - Temperatures across West Central Texas are expected to remain above normal through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo. Highs will hover in the mid-90s, with slight chances for rain and thunderstorms starting Sunday and into next week.

SAN ANGELO, TX - Corrections Officers at the Tom Green County Jail report that 11 individuals have been booked on charges ranging from possession of drug paraphernalia to assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation.
San Angelo Man Gets Plea Deal for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man took a plea deal for threatening someone in a fast-food drive thru with a gun. Jesse James Galvan, 36, of San Angelo, has taken a plea deal for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. According to court documents, on April 28, 2024, at 2:34 a.m., San Angelo police officers were dispatched to 4646 Knickerbocker Road regarding a threat call. Learn More Here.

Marfa's Blackwell School Designated as 430th National Park Site
MARFA, TX – The Department of the Interior officially recognized the Blackwell School in Marfa as the 430th national park site. The designation comes following the Blackwell School National Historic Site Act, introduced by Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) alongside U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.). This legislation, signed into law in 2022, instructed the National Park Service to preserve the Blackwell School as a national historic site. Learn More Here.
