This Fort Worth-area team clinched a playoff spot in its regular season finale
Fort Worth Southwest and Fort Worth Carter-Riverside were fighting for their playoff lives. Only the winner could advance to the Class 4A Division I bi-district round. The Raiders and Eagles played a close game, but ultimately, Southwest came out on top with a 28-21 victory Friday. Southwest was down a score at the half and dug out of the hole. “The [Southwest coaching staff] did a good job adjusting at halftime,” Southwest head coach Joseph Turner said. “Players did a good job accepting some tough coaching, and we had a lot of guys step up and do what they needed to do to make sure that we came out of second half and played some really good football.” Southwest (5-5) will face Dallas Lincoln (8-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth. “We need to start faster,” Turner said of the bi-district round matchup. “That’s our emphasis. We can’t wait until halftime to make adjustments. [We’ll] talk to the coaches about making adjustments immediately and locating those things right away.
