This Unassuming Little Bakery In New York Has Been Quietly Serving The Best Donuts For Years

There’s a shop tucked into Greenpoint that’s been making some of the best donuts in New York without ever asking for a single ounce of attention. Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop just keeps doing its thing, day after day, and somehow that quiet consistency has turned it into one of Brooklyn’s most beloved bakeries.

This New York Bakery Still Makes Italian Pastries The Old-School Way, From Cannoli To Fresh Focaccia

Your cannoli should not be filled until you actually order it. That’s a pretty reasonable argument, and one Bronx bakery has been making it with ricotta cream for ages. Shells sitting around full of filling? You may want to give that another thought. The story behind the counter is...

Lynbrook Says Ciao to New Italian Café, Affogato

Atlantic Avenue recently welcomed a “sweet” addition to its already existing stores, Affogato Café. Located next to The Bowl, Affogato Café has been the talk of LHS ever since its opening in early September. Affogato Café is an authentic Italian café prioritizing fresh and simple ingredients in its delicious treats. This café makes for an exciting, new place students can go to during off periods. Rather than the usual bagel or slice of pizza from neighboring businesses, at Affogato, students can buy a fresh-baked pistachio croissant or a ham and cheese sandwich served on imported Italian focaccia, all for a reasonable price.

Trader Joe's plans 2 new New York stores. See where they're going

Two new Trader Joe's stores are planned for New York, expanding the popular grocery chain's presence in the state. The California-based retailer announced plans this summer to open new locations in the Syracuse area and Yonkers as part of its latest nationwide expansion. The plans add to the company's growth in New York, which includes a Long Island store that opened earlier this year. The expansion comes as Trader Joe's continues to draw shoppers with its private-label products and competitively priced groceries. Where are the new Trader Joe's stores? According to Trader Joe's, the two planned stores will be located at: Camillus: 3515 W. Genesee St., in the Syracuse area. Yonkers: 2482 Central Park Ave. The Camillus store, located just west of Syracuse in Onondaga County, will be about 9,000 square feet and become the area's second Trader Joe's. The existing Syracuse-area store is at 3422 Erie Blvd. E. in DeWitt. The Yonkers location will cover about 10,000 square feet. When will the new Trader Joe's stores open? Trader Joe's has not announced opening dates for either New York location. Spokeswoman Nakia Rohde said new stores typically open within three to six months of being announced. Based on that timeline,

8 exceptional bakeries to get Thanksgiving pies in North Jersey

Getting put on the Thanksgiving pie article is tough, because — contrary to the dinner, which is easy to mess up — I genuinely believe holiday pies are better homemade. For 98% of the time. Buttery crust filled with mom's hand-whisked custard, caramelized apples peeled by grandma; swirl on the whipped cream and you've got a slice of culinary heaven that's impossible to top... ...unless your local pastry shop is run by someone who also happens to bake at that level, in addition to having a cake-centric career, a cookie-inspired Instagram page and a professional dessert education. (Sorry, Grandma. You're not Christina Tosi .) Since I've been assigned this duty, then, I've compiled a few bakeries that can compete with, or — God forbid — surpass, the treats of our most beloved family members. From Bergen, Passaic, Morris and Essex counties, here are eight exceptional bake spots to get Thanksgiving pies in North Jersey. **NOTE: Pre-ordering is recommended, if not required, at most spots. Details included. Where to Find the Best Pastrami Sandwiches in New York City

As someone who was born and raised in New York City, I’ve eaten a lot of pastrami sandwiches in my life. Delicatessens have always been a huge part of New York culture, right up there with our pizzerias and bagel stores. There aren’t as many traditional Jewish delis as there used to be. Neighborhoods have changed, families have moved, and some famous establishments have closed. But the pastrami sandwich is still one of the great New York foods, and a handful of old names continue to attract people from all over the city and the world.

This Small New York Italian Deli Serves Subs Worth Traveling For

A single hero at this Greenwich Village counter can stretch into two full meals. The meats get sliced only after you order, and the mozzarella is made fresh every day. I’m convinced that kind of care is rare. This family shop has been feeding New York since 1900, and it still makes its own sausage by hand.

A New Jersey Family Bakery Became A National Sensation After Its Custom Cakes Made It Famous On TV

A street corner in New Jersey was officially renamed after a bakery. That honor came in 2010, when the shop turned 100 years old. The story starts with an Italian pastry chef in 1910. Decades later, a former apprentice bought the place. Then his son took over at just 17...
