URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — University of Illinois students are cleaning out their dorms and donating items at the same time.

It’s another year of their annual Dump and Run on campus. This year, the event expanded across multiple campus locations. Allen, Wardall, and Sherman Halls are just a few of the spots students can drop off items they no longer want and leave it for donation.

Student Faye Wettsein said this helps keep the community clean and waste free.

“A lot of people buy things for their dorm room and may not be planning on reusing it for following years,” she said, “and it’s just a good way to get rid of your stuff in a responsible way and to just reduce the waste on campus overall.”

Items left for donation will go to charities like Salt and Light, Habitat for humanity, Goodwill, and the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.
