Mount Airy Mayor Larry Hushour says he has proposed an 18% property tax increase next year primarily to finance a new police station. Fire Hero Families from across the United States will attend the 43rd Annual National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Md., May 4-5. . Due to forecasted weather, the Candlelight Service (May 4 at 7:30 pm) and the Memorial Service (May 5 at 10 a.m.) will both take place at PNC Sports Complex Arena at Mount St. Mary’s University. Parking is available onsite.
