NOKOMIS, Fla. — Homeowners associations are everywhere in Florida, and there is no shortage of opinions about what they do and the power they wield. From limits on street or even driveway parking to restrictions on landscaping and even the color scheme of your home. For a long time, HOAs have had broad powers to enforce and even fine people for rules violations. However, a series of laws that went into effect earlier this month in Florida are now pushing back on some of these powers. They would limit which rules that HOAs can enforce and even provide more transparency to members.

JetBlue sues Florida Department of Revenue
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - JetBlue Airways is suing the Florida Department of Revenue, according to court records. The major airline filed the suit in Leon County civil court seven days ago. JetBlue is accusing Florida of wrongfully assessing that JetBlue owed an additional $631,000 for corporate income taxes from 2019 to 2021, according to documents obtained by WCTV. In the filing, JetBlue alleges that the state calculated the tax based on a geographical area that extends farther than Florida’s actual borders.
