Tyler — SLOW. Water stained; 72 degrees; 0.54 feet above pool. Rain in the forecast heading into the weekend. Bass are fair in 10 feet of water on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and trick worms. Crappie are fair with many undersized catches scattered from the shallows to 20 feet of water on brush piles with minnows and jigs. Bream are fair on red worms. Catfish are slow on liver and stink bait. Start to target the rocks or grass lines while the catfish spawn is on. Report by Paul Taylor, The Boulders at Lake Tyler.

Palestine — GOOD. Water slightly stained; 74 degrees; 0.94 feet above pool. Recent storms with lightning and strong winds limited the fishing last weekend. More inclement weather is in the forecast, but should be without the strong winds, except in the immediate vicinity of thunderstorms. White bass and hybrid striper have been excellent trolling over humps, points and roadbeds with Yankee rigs with a diver, redneck rigs or crankbait diver, and rattle traps Please be sure you can tell the whites and hybrids apart, use the stripes-to-the-tail method described in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Annual. Catfish are in shoreline rocks now for the spawn. Channel catfish fishing remains excellent for the small ones using a bobber fishing about 5 feet out from the rocks. Report by Jim Beggerly, Jim’s Fishing.
