Muskegon unveils its new $35M middle school. See inside the building
MUSKEGON, MI – After two years of construction, Muskegon’s new Charles Hackley Middle School is finally ready to be unveiled to the public. The new $35 million, 133-square-foot school building features a three-story academic wing with bright, spacious classrooms, state-of-the-art STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) spaces, a gymnasium with an overlooking walk-around track, a music wing, an outdoor athletic field and more.
Muskegon Public Schools open new Charles Hackley Middle School
The $35 million facility sits on the former campus of Mercy Hackley Hospital and is the first new school to be built in the Muskegon Public School District since 1959. Superintendent Matthew Cortez says funding came from two bond measures passed by voters in the spring of 2020, which was at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

New ALDI store preparing to open next month in Muskegon Twp.
MUSKEGON, Mich. — After a two-month delay, the new ALDI store in Muskegon Township is set to open on Thursday, May 9. The new store is on E Apple Avenue, in the same location as the former Plumb's store, which closed in 2017. ALDI officials say there will be fresh produce delivered daily and a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
