The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the deadly small plane crash in Truckee that killed two at the end of March.

A Compagnie Daher TBM 700 single-engine turboprop aircraft crashed north of the Truckee Tahoe Airport during an attempted landing just after 6:30 p.m. on March 30, killing the pilot and passenger, the NTSB report stated.

The plane's occupants were later identified at Liron and Naomi Petrushka of Incline Village . The couple was on a return flight from Centennial Airport in Denver, Colorado.

The NTSB said the pilot attempted to switch on the runway lights, which were off at the time of the crash. The air traffic tower was also closed.

Multiple attempts to land the plane were made before it crashed, according to the NTSB report.

According to the report, light snow was falling at the time of the crash.

Aviation crash investigations often require 12 to 24 months to complete, according to the NTSB.
