Taylorsville Woman Remains Missing After Almost A Year
A Taylorsville woman has been missing for almost a year. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for 39-year old Bethany Lee Brown. She was last seen in April, 2022. Brown stands 5’10 weighs 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Taylorsville Man Facing Charges
37-year old Tod-Jaa-Dazujan Tilley of Taylorsville is being held in Catawba County custody. He was confined in the Catawba County Detention Center on Monday, March 20th for possession of stolen goods and a pair of failure to appear charges. The missed court dates were for charges of felony probation violation and resisting a public officer. Tilley was also cited for a child-support violation. He is being held under a secured bond of $6,200. A felony larceny of a motor vehicle charge is also pending. Tilley has a series of court dates scheduled including today in Newton.
Newton Woman Gets Prison Time In Connection To Overdose Death
A Catawba County woman received a prison sentence after entering a guilty plea in connection to the death of a Catawba resident two years ago. According to published reports, 28-year-old Darien Brooke Greer of Newton received a minimum sentence of 19 months in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Catawba County Superior Court Wednesday (March 22). According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Greer also entered a guilty plea to two counts of felony contraband to prisoners.
Taylorsville Man Jailed For Missing Court Date
A Taylorsville man has been placed in custody after failing to appear in court. 50-year old Ryan Anthony Colasanto was detained in the Alexander County Detention Center on Thursday after missing a court date on charges dating to 2022 for felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of a contolled substance on jail premises, possession of drug paraphernalia and injury to real property. Colasanto is being held under a secured bond of $25,000 and has a new court date scheduled for April 24th.
Alexander Central Softball Routs Team From Pennsylvania
Alexander Central 10 Cannon-McMillan, Pa 0 (5 innings) Alexander Central’s Macy Law twirled a no-hitter as the Lady Cougars defeated the visitors from Pennsylvania on Wednesday evening in Taylorsville. Law struck out 6 and allowed one walk. Lainey Russell, Laney Wike and Kirstyn Herman had a pair of rbi each. ACHS is now 6-3 on the season.
CCC&TI Celebrated New Massage Therapy Graduates
HUDSON, NC (March 20, 2023) — Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute recently celebrated new Massage Therapy graduates on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. Pictured, left to right, are Timothy Gage, Josie Varela-Whisnant, Austin Schlosser, Kelly Gomez, Bryce Rosenbaum, Ella Brown, Hector Barrios, Kesha Dayton and Beatrice Murray. Barrios was recognized for perfect attendance for the year-long 654-hour course and Rosenbaum earned the highest achievement award. These graduates will now sit for the MBLEx licensure exam before applying for licensure from the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy. CCC&TI is now registering for two separate Massage Therapy cohorts, a daytime course on the Watauga Campus in Boone and an evening course on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The Watauga Campus course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday from June 7 to December 20. Evening classes will be offered on the Caldwell Campus from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and the third Saturday of each month from Oct. 2 to September 30, 2024. This course is designed to prepare students for the certification examination required for the North Carolina licensure application process. The course will include anatomy and physiology, multiple massage styles, multiple therapy styles, ethics, North Carolina laws and regulations in addition to wellness and self-care. Taylorsville Man Facing Fraud Charge
Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested 63-year old Roger Allen Rose of Taylorsville on Friday, March 17th. He’s charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense. Rose was released with a secured bond of $3,500 and is scheduled for an appearance today in Alexander County District Court.
Hickory firefighter promoted
The following firefighter has been promoted to Captain. Hickory Fire Department has promoted Eric Bartlett to the position of Fire Captain. Bartlett was hired as a firefighter in 2009. He is certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services and a Level II Firefighter through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission. He has completed training in many areas, including Hazardous Materials certifications awareness and operations levels, Technical Rescuer, and has completed Fire Officer Levels 1 and 2. Bartlett is certified as a Level 2 Fire Service Instructor and as a Level I Fire & Life Safety Educator. He also has Associate's Degrees in Fire Protection Technology and General Education through Cleveland Community College. For the past 22 years, he has also volunteered as a member at Icard Township Fire Department. Bartlett is married to Crystal, and they have two children, Bailey and Sydney.
