Generosity: Spirit of giving alive and well in the Mid-Ohio Valley
What an incredible display of generosity and support for our local nonprofits we got this week. By Wednesday afternoon, the Give Local MOV website said $459,712 had been raised, from 1,419 donors, benefitting 68 organizations. That was over the course of just 24 hours of giving — and with the help of community partners who provided matching dollars and prizes to boost the effort and inject a little fun.
Simply Kin Market Pop-up to showcase around 40 local businesses, live music, and yoga
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - SimplyKin Market will be hosting a Spring pop-up event at Point Park on Saturday May 11, 2024. The event will have close to 40 local businesses, according to Tim Bennet, the co-owner of The Beard and The Bun Pottery. Picture This: McKinley Elementary Demolition Underway
PARKERSBURG — Demolition began on the former McKinley School at 1130 19th St. on Monday as crews began tearing down parts of the building. The school building was bought at auction in May 2021 for $165,000 by the Astorg family, who own Astorg Auto. The Astorg family announced in February they were planning to tear down a large portion of the building after determining a lot of structural deterioration had occurred and the building could not be saved. They have invested around $200,000 into the gym and cafeteria portion of the building, providing a foundation for a youth sports facility that is now home to the Parkersburg Cougar Wrestling club. BELPRE — Early fireworks fizzled out just as quickly as they began for Belpre in an Ohio Division III sectional final against Coal Grove.
