Suspect In Florida Amber Alert Found Dead In Suwannee County, Child Found Safe, But Her Mother Is Still Missing

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police have issued a Missing & Endangered Alert for 34-year-old Sylvia Pagan, who is connected with an earlier Amber Alert.

An AMBER alert was sent out early on Monday morning regarding a 9-year-old girl from Tampa who was reported missing. It was thought that she and her mother, 34-year-old Sylvia Pagan, had been kidnapped.

The 9-year-old child was located early Monday, but her mother is still missing.

Police say that just before 2:00 a.m., on May 13, 2024, Steffani was located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Suwannee County, but the child’ mother, Sylvia Pagan, has not been found.

“As detectives diligently work to locate Sylvia Pagan, we are deeply concerned for her overall well-being,” said Tampa Police Department.

Sylvia Pagan was last seen at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in the 10400 block of Altman Street.

She was last seen wearing an unknown color dress.

The suspected adductor, Jovanni Caceres Steffani, is a white-hispanic male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 225 pounds, with bald hair and brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, sweatpants, and backpack.

Jovanni has a scar on the left side of his neck. They may be traveling in a  white Ford F150.
