Drumroll, please. We have two massive Tampa Bay area development updates for you:

Early Wednesday morning, St. Pete Beach City Council approved the TradeWinds Island Resorts expansion proposal. The plans include building an additional 629 rooms, new parking garages, office + retail space, restaurants, additional beach access points, and a clear public rooftop deck overlooking the beach.

Leaders say the project will be divvied into four phases. But hold your horses: the project could take up to 20 years.

In other development news, Tampa City Council recently approved redevelopment plans for Tampa’s WestShore Plaza, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The mall will be demolished and turned into a new mixed-use hub by developer Washington Prime Group.

The 52-acre lot in the heart of South Tampa will be transformed into 1,700 apartments, a hotel or motel, new retail stores, a HART bus station, offices, and medical facilities — only the Macy’s will remain.
