Dollywood may be famous for its cinnamon bread, but fall brings plenty of other reasons to arrive at the Pigeon Forge theme park hungry. Dollywood’s Harvest Festival is underway through Oct. 31, filling the park with the sights, sounds and flavors of autumn in the Smoky Mountains. And while the rides and seasonal entertainment may get you through the gates, this time of year it’s worth paying attention to what’s cooking around the park.

Jackson Brown Chicken & Fish delivers big flavor for headliner items | Grub Scout
Don’t get too excited by the name of the restaurant; Jackson Brown Chicken and Fish is not owned by the classic rock artist of the same name (he spells his last name with an "E" at the end). Jackson and Brown, in this case, are the last names of the two owners. But chicken and fish sounded good to The Grub Spouse and me, so we headed to the University Avenue eatery last week for dinner. I recognized the location as the former site of a restaurant called Soul Good, which I had enjoyed on my visit several years ago. The place looks virtually the same inside, with purposeful and tasteful aesthetics and an adequate number of tables to accommodate a moderate number of patrons. The Spouse is more of a fish fan than I am and agreed to take on that portion of the menu. Fried fish dinners include a sandwich and an entrée that comes with a choice of catfish or whiting. The Spouse went with the large fish plate ($16), picking catfish over whiting. The meal comes with two sides. Spousey went with cole slaw and fried okra, and we learned while ordering that hush puppies are

Crispy Cones to make Knoxville comeback at Covenant Health Park this fall
A signature European-inspired treat is returning to Knoxville after a few months away , with a new location opening in the Old City. Crispy Cones closed its first location near Karns earlier this year in order to relocate to Covenant Health Park. The unique ice cream shop that got its start on "Shark Tank" is set to open at the downtown stadium in early November. The brand began with small storefronts in Idaho and Utah and shares its name with the signature European pastry it sells − soft serve ice cream in a fluffy cone reminiscent of a churro. It now has expanded with locations across the country. The Smokies stadium has welcomed other restaurants including Jackie's Dream , Iron Forge Brewing Co . and BerrySocial. An indoor golf simulator and bar, ParTee Golf , is also opening in the stadium district. We know of a few other concepts slated for the stadium district, including Knox-Quila Cantina and dual-concept Disco Chicken and T. Ralph's Burgers & Fries. Separate from the stadium but a baseball's throw away, Jonathan's Grill is planning multistory construction between the ballpark and the gas station up the hill to bring its Nashville sports bar brand to

The town’s main drag, Great Smoky Mountain Parkway, is lined with so many over-the-top attractions on either side that it’s hard to keep your eyes on the road.
