Man who shot up Tahoe apartment receives probation
A man who emptied a .40-caliber pistol into the walls of his Stateline apartment instead of shooting himself received probation on Tuesday. Andrew Edward Arnold Wood, 34, was on two diversions at the time of the May 20, 2023, shooting. He was on a drug diversion for possession of mushrooms in 2022 and a DUI diversion for a third instances from Aug 8, 2021.
Hazmat spill cleanup still in progress at Donner Pass Rest Area
The Donner Pass Rest Area on Interstate I-80 East is still closed for cleanup after a semi-truck lost two tons of phosphoric acid from its rear trailer Monday afternoon. At approximately 1:50 p.m. on May 13, California Highway Patrol received a call of a semi-truck losing a “green substance” from its rear trailer, according to CHP Truckee Public Information Officer Carlos Perez.

Glenbrook South senior killed in violent 2-car crash: Police
Glenview Police said Marko Niketic was killed in the crash at around 11 p.m. Neighbors and friends said the Glenbrook South High School senior was driving his girlfriend home when they were hit as they turned onto East Lake Avenue from Meadow Lane.
South Lake Tahoe provides loan to developer for affordable housing project
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – City Council passed a motion on May 7, providing a predevelopment loan to a developer for an affordable housing project, plans of which rely on changes to area developmental standards currently caught up in litigation. The project proposed at 3900 and 3908 Lake Tahoe Boulevard will require the various anticipated amendments to factors such as density in the Tourist Core Area Plan as well as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s development standards.
