Newton Softball Team Bested by Morris Hills
NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team lost 12-2 in a six inning game when they hosted Morris Hills on Monday, April 22. Jordyn Young went 2-for-3 at bat with two doubles, an RBI and one run scored. Jaida Long went 1-for-3 at bat with a single and an RBI. SOMERSET, NJ -- Three players collected three hits apiece and Ryan Mrotek pitched six strong innings to lift Franklin to a 6-2 baseball victory over Pingry on Thursday. Ryan Mrotek allowed four hits, struck out nine batters, walked one and allowed one earned run for the win. Hunter Takacs, Matt Ciarelli and Eddie Brown each got past the Mustangs’ keeper. SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta boys volleyball shut out Dover 2-0 for their third win of the season. The Spartans took both games with a score of 25-16. George Tsamadias put up 10 service points including four aces, with 16 assists and three kills. Roberto Vasquez added seven points with an ace, an assist and nine digs. Joshua Tolentino had six service points with three aces. He had 10 kills against the Tigers. Jason Fisher and Owen Englehardt each put up three points. Robbie Abmrosino and Seth Gary each added one. Ramapo rallies late; holds off Northern Highlands - Baseball recap
Ramapo scored all eight of its a run during its final three innings at the plate to pick up an 8-6 victory over Northern Highlands in Franklin Lakes. The Raiders took their first lead of the game during the bottom of the fifth inning and then struck for a five-run frame in the sixth inning to take a six-run lead. Northern Highlands (6-7) fought back with four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Ramapo (9-3) was able to deny the Highlanders from creeping any closer and pick up its ninth win of the season.
