Newton Softball Team Bested by Morris Hills

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team lost 12-2 in a six inning game when they hosted Morris Hills on Monday, April 22.

Jordyn Young went 2-for-3 at bat with two doubles, an RBI and one run scored. Jaida Long went 1-for-3 at bat with a single and an RBI. Melissa Fehr scored Newton’s second run.

Newton had two pitchers, Fehr and Long, each in the circle for three innings. Long struck out two batters, but allowed seven runs off nine hits. Fehr struck out one and allowed five runs off eight hits.

The Newton High School softball team moves their overall record to 4-5 and their NJAC-Colonial division record to 4-2 as they host Lenape Valley on Friday, April 26 beginning at 4 p.m.
