A 46-year-old fleeing from Stow police with his 4-month-old child was captured and arrested Thursday night in Coventry Township, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Stow police reached out to the Summit County Sheriff's Office to help locate the vehicle Antwan Singletary was driving Thursday night after he was involved in a domestic dispute. Singletary evaded arrest with his child and headed south on I-77 into Stark County before turning around and driving north into Summit County, being caught by authorities near the Arlington Road exit on I-77.

After the man refused to comply with commands to exit the vehicle, additional deputies arrived on the scene to box his vehicle in. He exited with the child in his arms, but refused to surrender unless he could be apprehended by an African American deputy. Once the deputy arrived, he surrendered and the child was returned to its mother.

Coventry EMTs arrived on the scene to assess the child, who was later transported to Akron Children's Hospital.

Singletary was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence, child endangerment, interference with custody and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
