Bessemer man pleads guilty to stealing $1.6 million worth of cars
A Bessemer man has pleaded guilty to a scheme involving the theft and interstate shipment of at least $1.6 million in stolen cars. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is launching a new initiative aimed at connecting with young people and improving conflict resolution skills. During the months of June, July, and August Sheriff Mark Pettway, in partnership with Hoopfest 3- on-3, will be hosting the inaugural “Sheriff Mark Pettway’s Community Tour.” This FREE 3-on-3 basketball tournament series will be hosted across Jefferson County to promote safe and healthy activities to resolve conflict and provide some of our younger community members with a positive outlet. The tour will begin on June 24th and will run through August 5th. It is open for high school students and young adults up to 28 years old.
