Cold Springs runner Ethan Edgeworth breaks state 3,200-meter record
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Cold Springs High School rising senior Ethan Edgeworth saved his best performance for the last track and field meet of the 2022-2023 school year. Edgeworth clocked 8:53.56 in the 3,200 meters at the recent RunningLane Track Championships held at Huntsville’s Milton Frank Stadium. Edgeworth recorded the best 3,200-meter time in AHSAA history, according to AHSAA records. Edgeworth, who competed as an independent, told www.alabamarunners.com after the race that he’d been working throughout the spring season to break the 9-minute barrier. Sheriff Mark Pettway Announces Team Building Through HoopFest
Sheriff Mark Pettway’s community basketball tour will kick off this month to help young adults with conflict resolution and offer safe activities, he said. The tour is in partnership with HoopFest 3-on-3 and will take place at six different venues across Jefferson County, beginning June 24 at Trussville High School Stadium.

Gardendale, AL – The Gardendale Rockets closed out spring drills with a rain shortened showdown with the Benjamin Russell Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Driver Stadium. The Rockets, who are coming off a 9-4 campaign in 2022, will be looking to repeat as Class 6A, Region 5 champions in 2023. Chad Eads’ fifth season at the helm of the Gardendale program came to a close in the quarterfinals of the AHSAA 6A playoffs.
