Update: By 6 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, 36 hours into the Memorial Day weekend travel period, 4 people had died on Georgia roads, one in Grovetown, one in Carterville, one in Calhoun and one in Blueridge. These were reported at midnight on May 25. No further fatalities were reported during the period midnight to 6 a.m. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) continues to remind drivers to plan their trips carefully and remember to make safety a priority during the remainder of the holiday travel period which ends at 11:59 p.m. tomorrow night.
