Man killed in shooting at Maple Ridge Apartments
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The Rock Island Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at the Maple Ridge apartment complex on Saturday. Police responded to the scene at 4:43 p.m. to a call of a gunshot victim inside the apartment complex in the 3700 block of 5th Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man in the parking lot suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to UnityPoint Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Davenport firefighters safely remove pets from house fire
DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Fire Department responded to a structure fire and removed multiple pets from harm's way Wednesday morning. Fire crews responded to the 2800 block of Highpoint Drive around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8. They found an occupant inside and smoke coming from the basement. The occupant safely escaped the fire with some family pets. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and removed the remaining pets.
