Lathrop man injured in Highway 36 crash near Stewartsville
A single-vehicle accident on Highway 36 resulted in moderate injuries for a Lathrop man on May 17. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Scott C. Wooten, 54, was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Highway 36, three miles west of Stewartsville. The accident occurred at approximately 7:57 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels facing north.

St. Joseph man accused in stabbing
A 46-year-old St. Joseph man has been charged with second-degree assault, accused of stabbing a man during an altercation. Mark Deng is being held in the Buchanan County jail. St. Joseph police say Deng entered a residence in the 200 block of North 8th Street late Saturday night with a large hunting knife. Police accuse Deng of tossing items in the residence, then following an occupant as he tried to leave. Police allege Deng stabbed 46-year-old James Isaac Earl Bonnett when he attempted to intervene.

One man was injured in a shooting late last night at Belt Bowl Entertainment. The St. Joseph Police Department said the violence occurred around 11 p.m., leaving one victim injured with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was taken to Mosaic Life Care by a private vehicle.
