Stevens Point Boys Swim Past Marshfield
The SPASH boys swim team traveled to Marshfield Thursday night in their second WVC meet of the week. SPASH took home a victory with a 95 – 75 win against the Tigers. SPASH now has 3 points towards their conference standings. Next up for SPASH is a home meet on Thursday December 7th against Wausau East.
UWSP at Marshfield receives gift from local business
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield will benefit from a $10,000 gift from a longtime Marshfield business whose founder had a historic role on campus. The Nelson-Jameson Foundation presented a check to the UWSP Foundation on Nov. 29. The gift is funding need-based scholarships as well as a special project to celebrate the campus’ 60th anniversary in 2024.

Woodward, Ruth H.
Ruth H. Woodward, age 92 of Stevens Point, WI passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Willow Brooke Point Senior Living. Ruth was born on October 14, 1931; daughter of the late August and Julia (Goter) Weber, born on a farm in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota. Both of her parents were born in Germany and that’s the language she grew up speaking. Ruth had vivid memories of being a child during WWII, and what she and her parents endured because they were German.
Wisconsin Rapids’ Bob Gawlitta, Pacelli’s Wayne Sankey Named to 2024 WBCA Hall of Fame Class
The Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association has announced its 2024 Hall of Fame Class:. Bob Gawlitta has been a great ambassador of baseball, not only at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids where he has coached at since 1994, but statewide in his service to the WBCA as a former Vice-President, President, a current District Rep for the North Central District. He also chairs the WBCA Scholarship Committee, something he has done since the WBCA began awarding scholarships. His record as a coach speaks for itself. Going into 2024, he amassed 371 victories, won four conference titles, eight Regional titles and a Sectional title. He continues working with Rapids youth programs and hosting clinics in addition to his WBCA and head coaching duties.
