Trial date set for Stevens Point woman accused of selling heroin that led to fatal overdose in 2021
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WJFW) - A Stevens Point woman will head to trial in April after being charged in a fatal heroin overdose case in 2021. On Monday, Dec. 4, 40-year-old Margaret Creamer appeared virtually in Portage County Court. It was announced that Creamer will head to trial from April 3-5.

Trumpeter swan rescued in Stevens Point on Sunday after being shot
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - On Sunday morning, non-profit organization Loon Rescue Inc. President and Vice President Linda and Kevin Grenzer got word of a trumpeter swan wandering near Stevens Point Area Senior High. Two incidents occurred in Plover, Wisconsin this week. The first incident involves an AMBER Alert being activated for two missing boys, 7-year-old Alexander Muajkoob Kiong and 9-year-old Stefan Yenghoua Xiong. They are likely with their father, Yiemen, who left Plover on November 20th and his destination is unknown. The second incident involves a 35-year-old man, Khengzing Yang, who has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children under the age of 12. Yang must also participate in mental health services and register as a lifetime sex offender.
Cause of Wednesday evening fire at Wisconsin Rapids funeral home still under investigation
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The cause of a Wednesday evening fire at a funeral home on East Grand Avenue is still under investigation as of Friday morning. At about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, crews were called to a fire at the John J. Buettgen Funeral Home on East Grand Avenue. Fire Chief Todd Eckes said the call came in when someone saw flames in the window, and when responders arrived, there was an active fire inside the building.
