STEVENS POINT − Officials filed charges Thursday against a 21-year-old man police arrested following an April 5 arson in the 1600 block of Main Street. Eric R. J. Blum, of Stevens Point, faces charges of arson of a building, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. Blum, who has a warrant in Dane County on a misdemeanor case, is scheduled to make his initial appearance on the arson charge Monday in Portage County Circuit Court.

PLOVER, Wis. (WSAW) - Drivers in Plover will have to get used to using one lane and detours as a more than $6 million road construction project in Portage County is underway. Right now County B is closed, but once that road opens up another will close. This road construction project will remove old pavement and reconstruct Wisconsin Avenue to Hoover Avenue. For the next few months, you will want to allow yourself some extra time on County Highway B in Plover near the interstate.
Solar farm near Nekoosa now equipped with essential bird boxes
TOWN OF SARATOGA, Wis. (WSAW) - A solar farm in the Town of Saratoga has installed six new houses for some neighbors to move in, but they’re for birds, not humans. Goose is an American Kestrel. It’s a species of falcon often confused for mourning doves. Goose, along with Central Wisconsin Kestrel Research, has been working with Alliant Energy to install nesting boxes for kestrels at the Wood County Solar Project in the Town of Saratoga.
