STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia Southern is in Montgomery as they get ready for the first round of Sun Belt Championship play.

Georgia Southern finished as the five seed with an overall record of 30-25. They finished 17-13 in Sun Belt play. The Eagles are not going to blow you away with their offensive play. As a team, they finished with a combined .279 batting average, which put them eighth in the conference.

From the mound, they finished fifth with a 5.32 team ERA. They finished second in the conference with seven saves. They got swept in a three-game series in Harrisonburg.

“They played really well that weekend,” Hennon said. “I think if you look at our lineups somethings have changed since that series. I think we’ve played better baseball since we left Virgina that weekend. Regardless of who your opponent is, I’m a big believer in taking care of our business and just playing at a high level, being able to execute at high level in all phases. That’s what it’s going to take on Wednesday and that’s what it’s going to take all week.”

Georgia Southern did lose all three games to James Madison earlier this year. But we all know the only contest that matters is the one coming up on Wednesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
