    State College to host North American Northeast roller derby playoffs

    STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — The State College Area Roller Derby (SCAR) announced that the upcoming North American Northeast Regional Playoffs will be taking place in State College.

    Also known as the Great Tailgate, the playoffs will take place from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19 at the Pegula Ice Arena. The championship game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on May 19. Fans can expect 12 roller derby teams from the Northeast region to battle for a spot in the world championship.

    “We are honored to host the North American Northeast Regional Playoffs here in State College,” “Swifty”, President of SCAR, said. “This is a ginormous occasion for roller derby in Centre County as we bring together the top teams from all across North America to showcase the best of roller derby. We look forward to welcoming teams and fans alike to our vibrant community.”

    There will also be a tailgate outside of the Pegula. Tickets for the full weekend are available for $50, which will give access to all of the matches throughout the tournament. Single-day tickets are also available for $20, with complimentary admission tickets for children 10 and under. Tickets are available online .
