Eugene man dies in Josephine County motorcycle crash
GLENDALE, Ore. – A Eugene man died on Sunday after he was thrown from his motorcycle when it left Interstate 5 near Glendale, according to the Oregon State Police. OSP said they responded to a single-vehicle crash at about 5:40 p.m. on September 17 on Interstate 5 near milepost 80 in Josephine County. Caseton Paul Burruss, 50, of Eugene, was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 in the slow lane when his Harley Davidson motorcycle left the roadway and overturned. Burruss was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash and declared deceased at the scene, state police said. Interstate 5 was not impacted during OSP’s on-scene investigation, authorities said.
DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
The driver was taken to the hospital after a single vehicle wreck on Sunday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 4:30 p.m. witnesses said they were alongside the 600 block of Nonpareil Road when they heard a vehicle approaching at a very high rate of speed. They looked westbound and observed a sedan as it struck a fence, broke large metal posts and rolled near the road.

Local Resident Arrested After Stabbing Incident on Van Buren Street, Charges Include Assault and Resisting Arrest
On September 16, Eugene Police responded to a reported stabbing on the 600 block of Van Buren at 8:28 p.m. The suspect, 54-year-old David Ivan Piccioni, allegedly attacked a couple with a knife. The female victim was able to flee indoors, while her partner was injured by a handmade throwing star thrown by Piccioni.
Eugene Resident Thwarts Violent Knife Attack; Assailant Faces Trial
Over the weekend, a potential catastrophe was prevented when David Piccioni from Eugene attacked a couple using a knife. EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County sheriff’s officials said on Monday morning that a Eugene man who had been reported missing on Friday evening has been found. Deputies said that Charles Edmond Anthony, 87, left his River Road area home on September 14 at about 9 p.m. Anthony was believed to be driving to the Cottage Grove area but never returned home as expected.
Portland Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Dealing Oxycodone, Money Laundering, and Firearms Possession Starting in Eugene
PORTLAND, Ore.—A Portland man whose 20-year federal prison term was cut short by a commutation was sentenced to an additional 25 years in prison today for dealing counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl analogue, money laundering, and unlawfully possessing firearms, all while on supervised release from his last federal conviction.

Two incidents occurred in Springfield, Oregon this week. In the first incident, a house on South 41st Street was severely damaged by a fire that started on the front porch. The owners of the house were able to safely escape without any injuries. The second incident involved a hostage situation at a home that also served as a daycare. A woman taking care of seven children became alarmed when her fiancé entered the basement unexpectedly.

Sept. 13: 15:54: Crash, Hit & Run – Hwy. 126E, Milepost 17. Reporting party, who is the driver of a brown Subaru, stated while stopping for a school bus with its flashers on, a white Ford Bronco rear-ended their Subaru. The driver of the Subaru pulled off the roadway into a driveway. The Bronco left the scene, heading west towards Springfield. The driver of the Subaru advised she was leaving the area and wanting to meet with a trooper. The Subaru sustained damage to the rear door hatch and bumper. The driver and passenger gave a detailed description of the white Bronco. Driver of the Subaru advised of neck pain and requested EMS. EMRS cleared the driver. Trooper checked the area of crash and found debris on the roadway. Pictures were taken of the original crash scene. Both driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts. No airbags deployed. This is an ongoing investigation. Involved: 23-year-old male and 45-year-old female from McKenzie Bridge.
