CHICAGO - The Chicago area is expecting some spring snow this weekend, and now, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for two counties. Lake and McHenry counties will be impacted the most by snow, according to the National Weather Service. The warning will go into effect on Saturday at 4 a.m. and last until 1 p.m.

2 children injured after allegedly being battered by man in Round Lake Beach
Prosecutors say a 42-year-old man threw a child into a wall and then pushed another child down concrete steps at a residence in Round Lake Beach. Jason D. Stackhouse, 42, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with two counts of domestic battery causing bodily harm and two counts of domestic battery physical contact.
The bass fishing team makes a splash
The Bass Fishing Team began meeting mid-Feb. and plans to start heading onto nearby lakes as soon as possible, considering the ice. The anglers (an angler is any fisher who uses a rod and line) have been conducting one to two indoor practices and meets per week during the six weeks before their official season starts; learning how to quickly tie knots, effectively cast and stay safe while fishing. Shortly after spring break, the team plans to begin their official season and regain Antioch’s honorable fishing reputation.

Single-Store Illinois Dealer B&K Power Equipment Closes
McHenry County in Illinois has lost its last single-store, family-owned dealership, according to a March 20 report from Shaw Local. B&K Power Equipment, which opened in 1970 and is currently based out of Marengo, Ill., will auction off its remaining stock in mid-April. Owner Barbara Christ chalked up the closure in part to consolidation of local dairies and difficulty in getting parts and equipment since the pandemic.
