Spokane man arrested for burglary, attempting to steal copper wire

SPOKANE, Wash. —  Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man Tuesday evening for burglary.

According to deputies, 39-year-old Kevin D. Durfee was arrested for trying to steal copper wire from a garage near Dartford.

Deputies said a neighbor reported the call after hearing loud noises, similar to demolition work, at a home nearby.

Deputies found several pliers, scissors and a wrench in Durfee's pockets.

SCSO said Durfee also had a backpack with a plastic bag containing a 'small amount' of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

The property owner was contacted and confirmed no one had permission to be at the property. SCSO said he wished to pursue charges.

Durfee was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for second-degree burglary, malicious mischief and possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies estimate the damage caused to the home costs at least $1,000.
