Spokane deputies to not face charges in deadly shooting of a man

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Two deputies will not face any criminal charges in the shooting of a man who shot at deputies.

According to the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office, Deputies Brent Miller and Matt Peterson were looking for a wanted suspect near the Rodeway Inn on E. Broadway Avenue June 4.

Deputies saw a man who looked like the suspect but was later identified as Bjorn Manycolors. Deputies contacted Manycolors who refused to identify himself and, during the interaction, Manycolors shot at deputies twice.

The deputies returned fire and Manycolors was killed. A .38 caliber gun was found near him. It was later discovered Manycolors had two active warrants.

Based on the investigation, the prosecutor's office determined the deputies were authorized to use deadly force in this incident. No charges will be filed.
