SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — Three men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the 2021 murder of a man .

On November 13, 2021, police and firefighters arrived at the scene of a one car crash involving a Jaguar sedan on Blanchard Road.

The sedan had crashed into a tree, but there was no one in the car.

Officials did find two pistols, a red gas can and a third gun in the Jaguar’s floorboards.

While enroute to the Jaguar crash, officials also found a disabled Ford sedan a half mile from Blanchard Road. The Ford was on fire. Upon extinguishing the flames, officials found the body of 37-year-old Lamar Douglas Jones in the car’s backseat.

Jones had been shot several times and died. Inside the car, officials also found papers related to a Jaguar car.

After an investigation, officials with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office determined that Jamarous Rogers , Joseph English and Jaylan Whiteside were with Jones in the sedan. Rogers shot and killed Jones, the three men then leaving Jones, trying to set the car ablaze with gas and tequila.

While fleeing the murder scene, English crashed the Jaguar into the tree.

Officials were able to find Rogers’ DNA in the Jaguar, and determined that one of the guns found in the Jaguar was the gun that was used to kill Jones.

English, Whiteside and Rogers’ girlfriend all agreed to testify against Rogers.

According to the Office of the Seventh Circuit Solicitor, Jamarous Deangelo Rogers, 30, was sentenced to a total of 60 years in prison for the following charges:

  • 30 years for Murder
  • 15 years for Arson Third Degree
  • 5 years for Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime
  • 5 years each for two counts of Possession of a Weapon By a Convicted Violent Felon
  • 5 years for Possession of Body Armor by Convicted Violent Felon.

Both Joseph Reymon English, 22, and Jaylan Romont Whiteside, 19, plead guilty to Accessory After the Fact to Murder and were sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended to the service of 5 years in prison followed by five 5 years of probation.
