Man arrested, charged in Littleton restaurant shooting
Littleton police, with assistance of several agencies today, arrested a man wanted in a shooting death Sunday morning which occurred during a DJ night at a Mexican restaurant. Chief Phillip Trivette said warrants had been taken out on 26-year-old Lavonte Taylor Wednesday for felony murder and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Jury indicts 13 in Sept; Two charged with second degree murder
A Mecklenburg County Grand Jury indicted 13 individuals in June. An indictment is not a verdict of guilt but rather a formal accusation initiating a criminal case. Nehemiah Moore of South Hill is charged with one felony count of malicious wounding, one count of felony possession of a schedule I or II drug with intent to distribute, one count of attempted second degree murder, two felony counts of use of a firearm, non-violent felony possession of a gun within 10 years, feloniously eluding law enforcement, malicious assault, violent possession or transportation of a weapon, and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

VDOT Announces road closure
The Virginia Department of Transportation will have to close Route 628, Clifton Road for emergency pipe repairs beginning Thursday, September 28, 2023. Weather permitting the repairs should be completed by Friday, October 20, 2023. The road will be closed between Route 636, Kress Road and Route 616, Lew Jones Road. A signed detour will be provided.

Ka’Shayla Wilson is Mecklenburg County Middle School Student of the Month. She resides with her grandmother, Linda Allen, and her two older brothers, one that is a Senior this year at Mecklenburg High School. Ka’Shayla is an amazing student at Mecklenburg Middle School. She is a member of the Beta Club. Her teachers describe Ka’Shayla as the student that is willing to help others and always does her best. She maintains honor roll, and her favorite subject is language arts. Her favorite meal is steak and macaroni and cheese. In her free time, she likes to play online games and read books. When Ka’Shayla grows up, she wants to attend a culinary arts school to become a baker, specializing in cup cakes, cakes, and other sweet items. Ka’Shayla is the perfect choice for student of the month. The 7th grade team is proud to recognize Ka’Shayla Wilson as Student of the Month for the month of September.
