Sixteen students from across North Dakota gathered in Dickinson, N.D., Oct. 22-24 for a high-energy, beef-industry career exploration and leadership development conference hosted by the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association (NDSA). The 14- to 20-year-olds comprised the 2026 Tomorrow’s Top Hands Beef Leadership Summit Class and represent a bright future for the state’s beef industry.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Awarding over $509,000 Between Three North Dakota Meat Processors

(KNOX) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is awarding over $509,000 in grants that will be shared between three meat processors in North Dakota. Maple Valley Locker Inc. in Enderlin will get $184,238, while Butcher’s Edge in Edgeley will receive $169,087 and Spruce Hill Meats LLC in Bowman will get $156,587.

Three North Dakota beef processors will receive grants from USDA’s Meat and Poultry Expansion program. They are Butcher’s Edge in Edgeley, which will receive a $169,000 grant; Spruce Hill Meats LLC in Bowman, which will receive a $157,000 grant; and Maple Valley Locker in Enderlin, which will be receiving a $184,000 grant.

Marathon announces future sale of Mandan refinery

MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) - Marathon Petroleum Corporation and MPLX LP announced that it’s selling its Mandan refinery to a company in Texas, CUR Energy, Inc. In a press release, the company stated that the deal includes the St. Paul Park refinery in Minnesota and is worth $4.2 billion, plus inventory.
