(This story has been updated to add new information.) A Massachusetts-based donut and coffee company has some delays in opening new locations in Brunswick County . With one location in Leland and another in Shallotte, three more Dunkins are slowly making their way to the area. There are only two existing Dunkin' locations operating in the county, one standalone Dunkin' in Leland and an in-store counter inside the Walmart Supercenter in Shallotte. County planning staff previously approved a standalone Dunkin' location at 4875 Long Beach Road SE, commonly known as N.C. 133, and another at 28 Blanton Road, Supply. The town of Carolina Shores approved plans for a third new location as well, to be constructed near the new Publix site. Construction is currently underway on the Long Beach Road location between a Food Lion-anchored retail area and Hampton Inn & Suites. The walls are up, but it is running behind schedule. Previous coverage: Major doughnut-and-coffee chain to open two more Brunswick stores Both the Supply and Southport area locations are owned by Dunkin' franchisee George Ross and will be completely new builds, former Senior Public Relations Specialist Julia Voutour previously told the StarNews. Brunswick County awaits hundreds of new industrial jobs

With Corning Incorporated announcing big plans and jobs for Wilmington, Brunswick County also has several industrial developments in the pipeline. Brunswick County continues to grow in population and development, and two big manufacturing companies plan to bring hundreds of jobs to the area with the potential for a third. Brunswick Business and Industry Development has multiple projects under their arm amid receiving $6.275 million in grant funding from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. The funding will be used to improve the Mid-Atlantic Industrial Rail Park Megasite and prepare it for prospective industrial businesses. Some identified improvements include site clearing, rail bed construction and mitigation credits for wetland protection efforts. The park spans across 1,100 acres near the Brunswick-Columbus county border and is one of two megasites located in the county represented by Brunswick Business and Industry Development. The park also connects to the Port of Wilmington via a CSX main rail line. 5 Best Restaurants in Wilmington, North Carolina You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them

Wilmington, North Carolina — a city where the Cape Fear River glimmers beneath Spanish moss, where pastel houses lean into the Atlantic breeze, and where the laughter of surfers, students, and old-timers mingles on sun-warmed sidewalks. Here, the architecture is a patchwork: antebellum mansions, weathered bungalows, neon-lit diners, and the ever-present hush of the ocean. Wilmington is a crossroads — of Southern tradition and saltwater dreams, of families who’ve called it home for generations and newcomers drawn by the promise of possibility.

On this day (November 6) in 1932, Stonewall Jackson was born in Tabor City, North Carolina. Stonewall wasn’t a nickname or stage name. Instead, he was named after the famed Confederate General. However, his name is far from the least interesting thing about him. He was the first artist to join the Grand Ole Opry without a record deal. Jackson also toured with his mentor, Ernest Tubb, until he landed his first chart hit. Decades later, he sued the Opry for discrimination and won.
