Quonset hut fire in Saticoy brings large response, displaces 5
A residential blaze in Saticoy Saturday drew a large firefighter response as crews upgraded the incident to a second-alarm fire. The incident was reported shortly before 11:15 a.m. in the 11100 block of Azahar Street, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The block is near the intersection with Alelia Avenue in the unincorporated Saticoy community outside east Ventura city limits.

Mars Helicopter Model Demonstration: Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology
All photos courtesy of Moorpark Unified School District. Students at Moorpark STEM School Flory Academy enjoyed a rare treat on April 23. Engineers from AeroVironment demonstrated a working replica of the autonomous helicopter Ingenuity, developed by AeroVironment, NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Ingenuity was carried by the Mars rover Perseverance and used to conduct experimental flight tests. Perseverance landed in March 2021, and Ingenuity completed 72 flights before its rotor blades were damaged on Jan. 18, 2024, ending its flight capabilities. According to AeroVironment, Ingenuity was the first flight of a rotorcraft on another celestial body.
Simi Valley Real Estate Agent Charged With Multiple Felonies, Including Grand Theft and Forgery
Ventura, Calif. residents were shocked to learn that a trusted real estate agent has been hit with a litany of felony charges. District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced the charges against Lane Yudell of Simi Valley, comprising three counts of grand theft, seven counts of forgery, and three counts of money laundering. The accusations against Yudell also include special allegations, such as targeting a particularly vulnerable victim and abusing a position of trust.

OXNARD, Calif.-The 2024 Patrick Vega Memorial Swim-a-Thon made a splash again this year. The Swim-A-Thon held at the Oxnard High School pool is named after the late competitive swimmer and marine Patrick Vega. Vega died during boot camp in 2018. Community dog walk raises funds for Camarillo charity
It was a day for the dogs. An Australian shepherd mix, a mini golden doodle and a boxer border collie were among the pups that joined their owners for ACTION VC's debut fundraiser Community Dog Walk Saturday at Pitts Park in Camarillo.
