A residential blaze in Saticoy Saturday drew a large firefighter response as crews upgraded the incident to a second-alarm fire.

The incident was reported shortly before 11:15 a.m. in the 11100 block of Azahar Street, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The block is near the intersection with Alelia Avenue in the unincorporated Saticoy community outside east Ventura city limits.

Fire was found in a single-story Quonset hut, said firefighter Andy VanSciver, a spokesman for the department. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm due to exposure to an adjacent Quonset hut, he said.

A photo from the scene shows the pair of Quonset huts with hoses inserted through the front entrance and the sidewalk wet outside. A second photo shows firefighters entering one of the homes, with the colorful mural of a corner convenience store visible in the background.

Firefighters from Ventura City and Oxnard departments also responded.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The Quonset hut that caught fire was red-tagged, VanSciver said. Three adults and two children were displaced.

The cause remained under investigation. Crews were expected to remain on scene until at least 2 p.m. to complete overhaul, VanSciver said.
